China, Cambodia vow to deepen bilateral military relations

BEIJING, October 14 (ChinaMil) -- General Fan Changlong, vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Tea Banh in Beijing on October 13, 2014.

General Fan said China and Cambodia enjoy a long history of friendship and are true friends sharing weal and woe. The Chinese people are grateful to the Cambodian government and people for their firm support on issues concerning China's core interests and major concerns.

In recent years, China-Cambodia mil-to-mil relations develops rapidly thanks to the promotion by leaders of both countries, and practical cooperation in such areas as high-level mutual visits, personnel training and equipment and technology has made solid progress, he noted.

China attaches great importance to developing the mil-to-mil relations with Cambodia, and is willing to work with Cambodia to implement the consensus reached by their state leaders, maintain the momentum of high-level mutual visits, and continuously deepen the friendly cooperation between the two militaries, in order to contribute to maintaining each other's national security and development interests and safeguarding regional peace and stability, added General Fan.

General Tea Banh commended the deep friendship and high level of mutual trust between Cambodia and China. He thanked China for its strong support to Cambodia's economic and social development, and hoped the two sides will further tighten exchange and cooperation and push the bilateral relations between the two countries and the two militaries to a new height.

Assistant to the Chief of the CMC Joint Staff Department Ma Yiming, Deputy Commander of the PLA Army Zhou Songhe and Deputy Commander of the PLA Navy Tian Zhong were also present at the meeting.
