KABUL, March 2 (ChinaMil) -- President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani met with General Fang Fenghui, member of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of Joint Staff Department of CMC in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Feb. 29.

The "One Belt (Silk Road Economic Belt) and One Road (the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road)" initiative advocated by the Chinese President Xi Jinping is of great significance and it will benefit all countries in the region including Afghanistan, Ghani told his Chinese guest.

Afghanistan and China are currently facing the threat of terrorism and the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement" is the common enemy of Afghanistan and China, Ghani said. He hopes the two countries will strengthen cooperation in security and counter-terrorism areas.

Fang Fenghui said that in recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Ghani have jointly planned and promoted cooperation in various fields between the two countries and have pointed out directions for the development of China-Afghanistan strategic cooperative partnership in the new period.

China is willing to work with the Afghan side to actively implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, continue to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two militaries, push forward regional joint anti-terrorism efforts, making positive contributions to maintaining regional security and stability and boosting the construction of "One Belt and One Road", Fang said.
