Ma Xiaotian meets with Zimbabwean Air Force commander

  BEIJING, August 20 (ChinaMil) -- Ma Xiaotian, member of China’s Central Military Commission and commander of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, met with Perence Shiri, commander of the Zimbabwean Air Force, in Beijing on August 19, 2015.

  Ma Xiaotian noted that China and Zimbabwe have enjoyed long traditional friendship. They have shown mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns since they established diplomatic ties 35 years ago, and they are greeting new opportunities for friendly bilateral cooperation today.

  Ma Xiaotian stressed that the relations between the air forces of the two countries have developed smoothly with fruitful cooperation in multiple fields. The Chinese PLA Air Force is willing to make joint efforts with the Zimbabwean Air Force to constantly push forward the bilateral relations.

  Shiri first expressed his condolences to victims in the grave blasts in Tianjin on August 12. He noted that China has provided strong support and aid to Zimbabwe's national liberation and independence movement, and the Mao Zedong Thought has deeply influenced the nation, military and people of his country. He thanked the Chinese government for its unreserved help in personnel training and other aspects.

  Ma Xiaotian hosted a welcome ceremony for Shiri before the meeting and accompanied him to review the guards of honor. Shiri and his delegation are on a state visit to China from August 18 to 23 upon Ma Xiaotian's invitation.
