HK teenagers experience service life in military summer camp

  HONG KONG, July 14 (ChinaMil) -- The opening ceremony of the 11th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Teenagers was held at the San Wai Barracks of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison on July 13, 2015.

  A total of 260 Hong Kong teenagers, including 150 boys and 110 girls, will spend 15 days of military life in this summer camp.

  The PLA Hong Kong Garrison has always been attaching great importance to holding the military summer camp activities, and will increase input of fund, manpower and material resources every year to keep improving the quality of the summer camp. 47 outstanding officers and soldiers selected from about 6000 troops of the garrison act as the instructors in this year's military summer camp.

  In addition to the traditional military training and national defense education lectures, the laser simulation confrontation is added into the training subjects. The garrison has also prepared an evening gala for the 260 Hong Kong teenagers.

  Liu Haixian from Clementi Secondary School said that though it is hot, 15 days to be spent in the military summer camp will help him become stronger both physically and mentally, so it will be an unforgettable experience for him.

  Participating in the military summer camp has been her dream, and she hopes to be more self-confident after the 15 days of military life, Huang Minghui, a Grade-4 girl student from Fanling Government Secondary School, told PLA Daily. She also wants to make more friends in the summer camp.
