Zhang Yang meets with Lao guest

  BEIJING, November 28 (ChinaMil) -- Zhang Yang, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Soukban, the visiting deputy director of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army, in Beijing on November 26, 2014.

  Zhang Yang said that China and Laos share the common mountains and rivers, and the people of the two countries have traditional friendship and contacts.

  Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Laos 53 years ago, the two countries have been enjoying highly mutual trust in politics, mutual benefit cooperation in economy and inter-coordination in international affairs, being real good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners, Zhang Yang continued.

  The Chinese side attaches great importance to developing friendly relations between China and Laos and is willing to continuously follow the concepts of "goodwill, sincerity, mutual benefit and tolerance", push forward the strategic concepts such as the "Belt and Road Initiatives", namely the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "21st- Century Maritime Silk Road Initiatives" proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the China-ASEAN Community of Shared Destiny and implement the important consensuses reached by the heads of the two countries, so as to push forward the healthy development of the comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries, Zhang Yang stressed.

  Zhang Yang was satisfied with the good momentum of development of the relations between the two militaries under the care of the leaders of the two countries in recent years, as evidenced by the frequent high-level contacts and the fruitful achievements in such fields as personnel training, exchanges among young officers and border defense cooperation.

  Both the Chinese and Lao militaries are people's armies under the leadership of their respective parties, and the political work exchanges between the two militaries are also very close, Zhang Yang added.

  He also hoped that the two sides can make joint efforts to deal with various challenges, so as to push forward the constant development of friendly relations between the two militaries.

  Zhang Yang also briefed Soukban about China's economic and social development, army building and reform as well as the recently-held PLA political work conference.

  Soukban said that for a long time, the friendly relations between the two countries and the two militaries of Laos and China have been developing constantly, and the exchanges and cooperation in various fields are very close.

  Soukban hoped the two sides can further deepen the pragmatic cooperation, so as to constantly consolidate the friendly relations between the two militaries.

  Jia Ting'an, deputy director of the GPD of the PLA, and others attended the meeting.
