Chinese warship arrives at Batam Island for ‘Komodo’ exercise

  BATAM, March 28 (ChinaMil) -- The amphibious dock landing ship “Changbaishan” of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLAN) to participate in the multilateral humanitarian rescue exercise code-named “Komodo” arrived at the Batam Island of Indonesia on the morning of March 27, 2014 and moored in the northwest of the Batam Island.

  All the warships from other countries would arrive at the Batam Island on the same day.

  The exercise sponsored by the Indonesian Navy will be divided into three stages namely port-and-shore deduction, maritime drill as well as engineering and civil rescue. During which, the port-and-shore activities on the Batam Island from March 28 to 30 will focus on topics including desktop theoretical discussion, multinational command training, and network simulation drills in aspects such as the disaster situation analysis and notification, request for foreign aid by disaster-hit countries, rescue action and rescue control, so as to familiarize the officers and men of the navies of various countries with the exercise.
