Flight safety is the cornerstone of the combat effectiveness of an air force. To effectively prevent flight accident, a flight academy of the Air Force of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in northeast China introduced world advanced flight management model to all-roundly carry out “aircrew resource management training”.
Proceeding from the study of the problem of flight safety and artificial factors, the academy constructed an aircrew resource management model with air force features, formed standard operation process for 78 specialized professions and 108 special situation handling methods, transformed and upgraded the simulator and the flight simulation software, introduced foreign pilot psychological quality training system, greatly improving the capability of the flight-related personnel in information communication, risk identification and decision making.
In the flight simulator which was just put into use, the reporter noticed that every time when the cadets carried out an operation, the aircrew resource management “checklist” would be read out and the operation progressed with the confirmation in the same time. In the past, as the aircrew mainly based on their experience to carry out operation, errors happened frequently. After using the “checklist”, such phenomenon as “mistake, negligence, missing” disappeared on the whole.
Luan Zhong, principal of the academy told the reporter that with the popularity of the aircrew resource management model, the teamwork spirit of the flight-related personnel had been notably strengthened and the flight training of the academy was realizing expansion from laying stress on individual operational skill to collaboration capability and the extension from laying stress on technological capability to “non-technological capability”.
