On the morning of Feb. 7, 2010, the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) sent a donation of 10.42 million yuan to the Xinjiang Charity Federation as an expression of love and care for the people of all ethnic groups in the snow disaster-stricken areas in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

　　Since the end of December in 2009, Aletai, Tacheng, Yili and other places in Xinjiang were hit by a serious snow disaster rarely seen in the last 60 years. Over 1.54 million people of 90 towns and townships of 12 counties and cities in Xinjiang suffered from the disaster with a direct economic loss of 0.6 billion yuan.

　　Shortly after the disaster, the Lanzhou MAC organized its troops to help fight against the snow disaster and called on simultaneously all its officers and men to donate money for the disaster-stricken areas in Xinjiang. According to statistics, the leaders of the Xinjiang Military Command (MC) and the officers of the leading organs of the Xinjiang MC donated over 120,000 yuan.
