Since implementing the escort operations in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast on July 16, 2009, the “Qiandaohu” comprehensive supply ship of the naval escort taskforce of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army has been implementing the escort task for nearly 7 months, offering powerful logistics and equipment support to the Chinese naval escort taskforce in successfully accomplishing one after another complicated and arduous escort tasks. Adopting high-tech means and equipment has become distinct characteristic of the “Qiandaohu” comprehensive supply ship in implementing support.

Such high-tech devices as the water and toxin-inspecting box, the water quality and bacteria testing box, the food bacteria testing box and the food physical and chemical testing box can barred unqualified foods and drinks from the headstream during the escort operation. Up to now, the “Qiandaohu” comprehensive supply ship has accomplished the sample test of more than 120 batches/times of foods and drinks of 102 species and timely identified 3 batches of foods with excessive organic phosphor.

The “information-based remote medical diagnosis and treatment system” integrating audio with video enabled the “Qiandaohu” comprehensive supply ship to realize the remote consultation under the help of experts in the Beijing-based General Hospital of the PLA Navy. Meanwhile, the experts can guide the implementation of various operations from the distance.

The “POL inspection and chemical test system” can analyze the oil for the equipment in less than one minute.

The “database for equipment malfunction analysis and removal for a new-type of guided-missile frigate” has included data of the commonly-met malfunctions of the type of ship. It can position and judge the malfunction quickly and generate the rush repair plan at the same time.
