Ma Xiaotian visits Romania

General Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) paid a visit to Romania from January 30 to February 2. Ma Xiaotian and the Romanian side made an exploration on how to further strengthen the friendly cooperative ties between the two militaries and cut the ribbon for the opening of the first Chinese language lab set up by the PLA in Europe.
Gabriel Oprea, Romanian defense minister, met with Ma Xiaotian and his party on February 1. Gabriel Oprea expressed in the meeting that Romania was willing to further strengthen the military exchanges with China, expand the cooperation between the two militaries in all fiends, and solidify and deepen the friendly cooperative ties between the two militaries. He also stressed that Romania would firmly pursue the one-China policy and support China’s stand on Taiwan, Tibet and Xinjiang issues.
Ma Xiaotian said that the Chinese side attached great importance to the development of Sino-Romanian relations and was willing to further enrich the cooperation contents between the two militaries, expand the cooperation fields between the two militaries and lay a firm foundation for the cooperation between the two militaries.
Ma Xiaotain attended the hand-over ceremony of the Chinese language lab built by the PLA for the Romanian military and cut the ribbon for the opening of the lab on February 2.
During his visit, Ma Xiaotian also met respectively with Admiral Gheorghe Marin, chief of general staff of the Romanian Armed Forces, and Teodor Viorel Meleşcanu, chairman of the Defense Committee of the National Assembly of Romania.
