At the beginning of the new year, the reporters learned from the department responsible for engineering projects of the Second Artillery Force (SAF) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army that with the completion of a number of new information-based national defense engineering projects in succession, the construction of national defense engineering projects of the SAF which is crowned as the “underground great wall” had further formed a strategic pattern which is scientific in layout, diversified in model, integrated in function and comprehensive in protection.

　　In recent years, based on the requirements of the future combat, the leading organ and the engineering troop units of the SAF have been focusing their attention on the enhancement of the core capability in engineering design and construction as well as war-time engineering support, insisting on carrying out construction in advance, closely eyeing the concept of project construction and the development frontier of engineering technology, making trouble-shooting on some major knotty problems in engineering design and construction, and have obtained nearly 100 scientific research achievements in such aspects as project protection and construction technology, realizing an all-round improvement of the comprehensive protection capability, application performance and IT application level of national defense engineering projects.

　　The department responsible for engineering projects of the SAF has established a regulation and standard system linking up and coordinating the whole process of an engineering project from survey and design to construction and completion, greatly enhancing the efficiency of project construction and safety management.
