The General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently issued the Key Points of Military Work of Arms in 2010, hence making deployment for the military work of all arms of the PLA in the new year.

　　It’s learnt from the Key Points that in 2010, the PLA will, by focusing on the missions and tasks shouldered by troops of different arms, deepen the study and exercise of subjects directly concerning the preparedness of military struggle and strive to form an effective and applicable system of tactics and counter-measures.

　　To further study and popularize innovative achievements and accelerate the transition of these training achievements to actual combat effectiveness will also be carried out in the troop units of all arms in the year of 2010. These innovative achievements include the precision strike of the artillery and aerial defense forces, the offensive and defensive tactics of the armored force, the campaign-level engineering support of the engineering force and the integrated anti-chemical support of the anti-chemical force.

　　According to the Key Points, the PLA will make efforts in the theoretical study and drilling of subjects of military operations other than war (MOOTW) so as to find solutions to the major problems arising in MOOTW involving troops of arms.

　　The Key Points also made an overall deployment for such contents as strengthening routine combat readiness, construction and reform of forces of different arms, building up specialized emergency response forces, improving military training level under close-to-actual-war conditions and pushing forward the transition of military training from training under mechanized conditions to the training under IT-based conditions in all the arms of the PLA.
