According to Ma Quan, military expert of the Air Force Command College of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the PLA Air Force mainly used the regulations and teaching materials of the former Soviet Union in the early days of its establishment.Since 1959, the PLA Air Force compiled 306 regulations, teaching materials and training books within 6 years, establishing the first generation of regulation system for military training.

　　Ma Quan said, in recent years, the PLA Air Force had actively implemented Chairman Hu Jintao’s strategic deployment on pushing forward the transformation of military training under information-based conditions, tried to adapt to the development of the new weapons and equipment as well as the combat and command modes, and vigorously advanced transformation of the training of the air force troops from mechanized training to military training under information-based conditions by focusing on the training in complicated electromagnetic environment.

　　Firstly, the PLA Air Force gives prominence to mission-oriented confrontation exercises under close-to-real-war conditions. Secondly, it gives prominence to live-shell training of precise guided weapons under close-to-real-war conditions. Thirdly, it strengthens electronic confrontation training. And fourthly, it intensifies all-element, full-process and all-weather systematic confrontation training.

　　Ma Quan held that the military training of the PLA Air Force had experienced the evolution from accelerated training to regularized training, from training in general environment to training in complicated electromagnetic environment and from single-element training to systematic training, basically forming a new-type close-to-real-war and simulated military training system with flight training as the mainstay and with tactics, campaign and stratagem training closely linked.
