Thirty-six Military Strategists of the PLA

        In October 1989, approved by the Central Military Commission, thirty-three people were honored the title of “Military Strategist of the Chinese People's Liberation Army”. In August 1994, the Central Military Commission approved to subjoin three people in the thirty-three PLA military strategists, thus the total number of the PLA military strategists adding to thirty-six. Among them were five late major state leaders, ten Marshals and ten Army Generals. Eleven of them laid down their lives before the founding of the People's Republic of China.

1.Mao Zedong(1893—1976)

He is one of the principal leaders of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China and one of the founders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
3.Zhu De(1886—1976)

    Zhu De, born in Yilong County of Sichuan Province in 1886 and passed away in 1976, is a great Marxist, proletarian revolutionary, statesman and military strategist. He is one of the principal leaders of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China and one of the founders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
4.Deng Xiaoping(1904—1997)

    Deng Xiaoping, born in Guang'an of Sichuan Province in 1904 and passed away in 1997, is a great Marxist, proletarian revolutionary, statesman, military strategist and diplomat. He is one of the principal leaders of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the People's Republic of China. He is the chief architect of China's socialist reforms and opening up and modernization drive and the founder of Deng Xiaoping Theory.

36.Lin Biao(1907—1971)

    Lin Biao, born in Huanggang of Hubei Province in 1907 and passed away in 1971, was conferred the military rank of marshal in 1955.
